A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO CRYSTALLIZING

A precise, modern approach to crystal application—whether you’re customizing accessories, apparel, or objects. Clear steps, clean technique, elevated results.

THE TOOLS
  • Wax pencil
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Scrap paper
  • Toothpick
  • Crafting adhesive
  • Paper towel
  • Small trays or containers (any shallow dish, like a small plate or take out container top works)

THE PROCESS
1. Prepare the Adhesive:
  • Open your glue. If the tip is blocked, clear it with a toothpick.
  • Test a small dot on scrap paper to ensure a smooth, controlled flow.

2. Ready the Wax Pencil
  • Lightly sharpen the wax end so the surface is clean and able to pick up stones.
  • Avoid a sharp point—flat and tacky works best.

(Optional) Plan Your Layout
If you’re working from a specific design, sketch or lightly map it out. If not, proceed intuitively.

3. Apply Adhesive
  • Place glue exactly where you want the crystals to sit:
  • For dispersed sparkle: small individual dots.
  • For borders or lines: a thin line of adhesive, no more than 1–2 inches at a time to prevent premature drying.

4. Place the Crystals
  • Pick up each crystal with the wax pencil, stone side up.
  • Set it into the adhesive with light pressure.
  • The adhesive will release the stone cleanly from the wax.

5. Continue Section by Section
  • Apply adhesive and place crystals until the design is complete.

6. Allow to Cure
  • Let the finished piece dry undisturbed for 24 hours to ensure full adhesion and durability.

Notes & Techniques

A toothpick is ideal for precision:
• Use the side to remove excess glue cleanly.
• Use the tip to transfer tiny amounts of adhesive into detailed areas; dab from a small pool of glue on your scrap paper.

Work in small adhesive sections to maintain accuracy and prevent drying.
