A-MORIR: ARTIST MADE IN NYC SINCE 2008.

a-morir wasn’t started with a mission statement, but with a few ideals floating around my head; beautiful and unique accessories. Hand embellished to order. Small business, big impact. Something for everyone. Nothing ordinary, only extraordinary. As the business has grown and evolved at it’s core we’ve stayed the same: we are a small female owned and operated business who value quality design and production, creative freedom, and happiness for ourselves and our customers over making huge amounts of money at the expense of others and ourselves. We design and hand embellish each and every piece that comes out of our Manhattan studio with love and care to bring extraordinary joy to the ordinary moments in your every day life.

A-MORIR IS FOR EVERYONE.

At the beginning of my career buyers, marketing execs, and fellow designers asked me who my “target customer” was and I always looked at them with confusion. “a-morir is for anyone who loves it!” I’d reply, because that’s genuinely what I felt. If something we make makes you happy, then it’s for you. If something we make makes you feel like your best self, then it’s for you. I especially love accessories because they don’t care what size you are, how old you are, what your gender is, what your skin color is, or how able bodied you are. Our campaigns have proudly featured a variety of ethnicities, body types, ages, and genders, and our beautiful clientele is equally diverse.

A-MORIR IS A SMALL COMPANY. AND THAT’S ON PURPOSE!

Most businesses equate value to how much money you can make. When we thought about what has true value to us we realized that at a-morir we value quality, sustainability, and freedom of expression. At our core we are artists and artisans, and our work reflects that. We hand embellish each order and hand pack each box allowing us to stay closely connected to our products and closely connected to you.

A-MORIR SUPPORTS OTHER SMALL BUSINESSES.

As a NYC based small business it’s important for us to support our community. We source most of our materials from family owned shops we can walk to from our studio. We can walk to the small and mighty female owned workshop that hand produces our jewelry. Our prescription lens lab is also walkable and family owned. And while eyewear production in the United States isn’t an option, when we produced bespoke collections we did it with a no waste husband and wife workshop on Prince Edward Island. We hire artists and pay them more than twice minimum wage.  We don’t have to do any of this, (and could make a lot more money if we didn’t) but what kind of hypocrites would ask you to support their small business when they don’t support any themselves? By supporting us you’re supporting dozens of small businesses, not just ours.

A-MORIR LOVES THE PLANET

Since inception, everything we’ve created has been made to order. We don’t make more than we need to so we don’t end up with waste. We ship with recycled tissue paper, and we regularly reuse shipping boxes and shipping materials (if you’ve ever received something shipped in bubble wrap or with an air pouch it is one we’ve received in a shipment to us!) As we continue to reflect on and reevaluate our priorities we will refine how we operate to make sure we are doing as best as we can to take care of a planet that takes such wonderful care of us.

A-MORIR SUPPORTS YOU

We support equal rights for everyone. Black lives matter. Brown lives matter. Trans lives matter. Native lives matter. LGBTQIA+ lives matter. Disabled lives matter. Immigrant lives matter. People who are homeless matter. Sex work is real work. Separation of church and state. Pro choice. And pro science. We pay taxes and believe all corporations, specifically the giant ones, should pay taxes, too. Housing and healthcare are basic human rights. Treat those around you with dignity and respect.

We don’t support bigotry, homophobia, racism, sexism, anti Semitism, hate speech, discrimination of any kind, or the 45th president.
